New data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that overall employment in construction grew by 25,000 jobs in September to reach 8,303,000 workers. This is yet another new record for the most construction workers ever employed in the United States. And it is another example of how the Biden-Harris administration is delivering for Operating Engineers.
Other highlights of BLS Jobs Report for September include:
- Employers added 254,000 jobs to their payrolls.
- The unemployment rate ticked down to 4.1% in September and has remained at its lowest levels in 50 years.
- Since the start of the Biden-Harris administration, 16.2 million jobs have been added to the U.S. economy.
- Over 740,00 construction jobs have been created since President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in November 2021.
- Employers in the "heavy and civil engineering" subsector of the construction industry added 3,800 jobs to their payrolls, achieving a new employment record.
Additionally, since the start of the Biden-Harris administration, the economy has added 729,000 American manufacturing jobs. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has awarded funding to over 60,000 new projects in communities throughout the nation.
